Stephen Timms, Minister of State for Energy, e-Commerce and Postal Services visits Redbus Interhouse
|Redbus Interhouse (UK) Ltd, the UK division of Europe's most advanced, independent colocation and managed services provider, was visited last Friday by Stephen Timms, MP for East Ham and Minister of State for Energy, e-Commerce and Postal Services about the roll-out of wireless broadband projects across areas of London.
The meeting, which was held at Redbus Interhouse's offices in Docklands, was attended by Stephen Timms MP, Simon Neal, UK Country Manager of Redbus Interhouse and Garry Beale CEO of Awellconnected. Awellconnected have established roaming Wi-Fi networks in various towns and rural areas across the UK and have chosen to house all its servers, transmitting and receiving equipment at Redbus Interhouse, so that it is able to gain crucial connectivity to the LINX and nearly 50 ISPs.
The purpose of the meeting was to demonstrate to the Minister how the roaming Wi-Fi network can provide a viable broadband alternative for anyone who lives beyond 5.5 kms from their local BT exchange or doesn't have access to cable broadband. In his combined role of Minister with responsibility for e-communications and MP for East Ham, Stephen Timms is obviously concerned that everyone and especially his own constituents should have broadband Internet access.
Simon Neal commented: "We were delighted to be able to welcome the Minister to Redbus Interhouse and to be involved in wireless technology, which will be of tremendous advantage to those people, living and working in the UK, for whom broadband and its consequential benefits are not currently accessible."
